As a home keeper and mom of three tiny humans, I am always looking for the secret to having a clean house. I’ve figured it out and it is exactly what I was afraid it is.
The secret to keeping a clean house is the most simple and common secret to being successful at anything: doing the work. That’s it. There’s no perfect one size fits all of cleaning the house that will work if I don’t work myself.
I’ve thought that this what it takes for a long time because with any good and successful venture, the only thing that works is doing the work. Luckily, doing the work is no harder than doing anything else. But what is it about a simple and uncomplicated solution that keeps me from doing it for so long? I mean, it has taken me almost 30 years to get to this point of actively wanting to keep my house clean instead of just looking around and wishing it was clean.
I also know the answer to that question and it’s not one that I really want to admit. It’s because I want to be lazy lately. This is a hard reason to accept because nobody likes to think of themselves as lazy. I know I sure don’t.
But maybe there’s something else holding me back. Maybe the reason that all of those wildly successful pins on Pinterest that claim to have the magic solution do not work for me is that I have not found a solution that works for me to keep a clean house. Because there is no magic solution, I just have to do the work and the results will come.
